UNHRC’s Guide to “Grave Diplomacy” – 19 Skeletons from 1990s – no 40,000 Skeletons from 2009
Step aside Iran-Israel crisis! Forget the 6,000 missing Tamils from LTTE’s own torture chambers in Thunukkai. Disregard thousands of Tamil children turned into child soldiers. Never mind the 146 Buddhists killed in Sacred Sri Maha Bodiya in 1985 or the 147 Muslims murdered inside Kattankudy Mosque in 1990. Who cares about 600 plus unarmed policemen executed by LTTE after surrendering also in 1990? Behold – the Chemmanni Grave: 19 unverified skeletons from the 1990s that warrants cancellation of all global conflicts to fly all the way to Sri Lanka, lay floral tribute, call for foreign judges and shed a few crocodile tears.
Meanwhile, Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala victims of real, documented LTTE massacres across three decades can wait & wonder who will listen to their grievances. Their suffering is, not important, rather it’s an inconvenience. No floral diplomacy that’s for sure. Their crime – they were killed by the people that mattered to Geneva.
Oh Volker, did your team not brief you about 6,000 Tamils who were disappeared by LTTE in their Thunukkai detention center? Guess not, 19 is more than 6000 Tamils. These victims don’t get UN flights or calls for “independent investigations” not even a petal.
Did Volker forget about the 40,000 supposed to be killed in the last phase in 2009 or was the Chemmani a distraction, a convenient diversion. Was the Chemmani visit a PR stunt so he wouldn’t have to visit Mullaivaikkal and get bulldozed by questions he couldn’t answer?
The UNHRC’s logic is stunning:
“If 19 unverified skeletons are found in a politically useful location, Bring in the cameras. Roll the tape & call it a mass grave. If thousands are killed by a designated terrorist group—blame the State or try to at least.”
Forget Article 2. Forget the UN Charter. Forget proportionality. This is Geneva’s version of justice: glorify terrorists, ignore their victims, and punish those who defeated them. Who wrote these new laws into the Blue Book?
What irony: while the world burns and everyone is biting their nails wondering if the Strait of Hormus would get shut, the UNHRC flies first-class to flower dead terrorists. Do we laugh or cry!
The UNHRC Head flew over Sri Lanka’s North in a helicopter not to meet survivors of LTTE terror, not to honor the slain Buddhist monks, Muslim devotees, or massacred Sinhala villagers, or the 600 plus policemen killed by LTTE —but to lay a flower at a site containing 19 unverified skeletons allegedly from the 1990s in a venue decorated with LTTE triangular signature red & yellow flags. This was a dead giveaway as to who organized the event that the UNHRC head bowed down to place flowers.
We are expected to call this show “reconciliation.”
Never mind that these bones have not been forensically confirmed. If he’s suggesting foreign experts, we recollect the expert Prof Pounder that C4 produced. This expert could look at a photo and not only declare the person as being killed but he had the magical wisdom to even declare the killers were the Sri Lanka Armed Forces only by viewing a photograph. Unbelievable expertise! Is this the type of “experts” UNHRC is envisaging for Sri Lanka? Let the clueless govt not be fooled.
Never mind that thousands of verified victims of the LTTE—from hacked Bhikkhus in Aranthalawa to the innocent passengers on trains, buses or in border villages or even the scores of Tamils killed by LTTE – none of these have had the luck to get a visit by any UNHRC head but terrorists are so damn lucky. The UN heads love to visit them.
Who needs verified history when you have helicopter diplomacy and a flower in hand?
Where are the 40,000 Skeletons from 2009?
For over a decade, we’ve been told—almost religiously—that 40,000 Tamils were killed in the final stages of the conflict – is this not the basis for “war crimes” “genocide” allegations? So where are the dead.
Where are the dead bodies – or skeletons? Yet, despite having:
- Satellite technology,
- Eyewitnesses with GPS memories,
- UNHRC resolutions stacked higher than a Colombo high-rise…
… not one mass grave with 40,000 bodies has been found since 2009. Not one. Zero.
So the damage control must be Chemmani site with 19 skeletons (origin unknown, possibly Tamils killed by LTTE or even LTTE), becomes a full-blown international headline – the much needed justification to peddle foreign judges & courts.
The UNHRC Itinerary: Selective Sympathy, Airlifted
We get it—time is limited. The UNHRC head has to choose where to go. But somehow, there’s always time to:
- Meet groups aligned to LTTE narratives,
- Echo calls for “foreign judges,”
- Lay flowers on graves of possible terrorists…
Grave Injustice: Terrorism gets Flowers, victims get Forgotten
Let’s be blunt.
If these 19 skeletons are worthy of helicopter landings and press conferences, what about:
- The Central Bank bombing: 113 dead.
- The Sri Maha Bodhi massacre: 149 Buddhist pilgrims hacked to death.
- The Aranthalawa Bhikkhu murders: 33 novice monks killed.
- The Kent & Dollar Farm massacres.
- The ethnic cleansing of Sinhalese & Muslims from the North.
Are these victims somehow unworthy of reconciliation? Or are they just inconvenient for the UNHRC’s narrative?
Selective Bones, Selective Justice
Let’s call it what it is:
The UNHRC has replaced human rights with human theatrics.
They will fly thousands of miles to visit a questionable grave with 19 bodies, but ignore:
- 40,000 bodies they claim existed – they are slowly trying to wriggle out of this.
- LTTE’s child soldiers
- Victims of real, documented massacres
Because some bones, apparently, matter more than others.
A Final Question for the UNHRC
Dear High Commissioner,
If you must lay flowers during your global travels, we respectfully suggest this rule:
Flowers are for victims—not for terrorists.
Otherwise, please stop pretending you’re here for justice. This is not human rights—this is grave politics & nothing else.
