When Terrorists take over Geneva: 2026 UNHRC Terrorist Sessions
They have turned the tables on the mighty UN itself. The United Nations Human Rights Council was created to uphold the dignity of victims and to protect human rights worldwide. Yet, the silence of Switzerland as host state, and the UN’s indifference to the glorification of the LTTE on its very doorstep, signals a dangerous precedent. If unchecked, the 2026 sessions of the UNHRC will not be remembered for resolutions or debates — but as the year Geneva became the global carnival of terrorists. Is this the downfall of the UN?
The Precedent of LTTE
In Geneva today, LTTE sympathisers openly wave the tiger flag, display images of Velupillai Prabhakaran, and demand the “right” to retain arms. Placards proclaiming “LTTE is our savior” have stood unchallenged while heavily accented foreign living members of the same group sit inside the halls of UN & bewail “genocide”.
By tolerating this, Switzerland and the UN have effectively elevated a banned terrorist organisation — proscribed in over thirty countries — granting it visibility and legitimacy than the very states and people it once terrorised.
This is not freedom of expression. It is the glorification of terror. And once allowed for one group, it becomes impossible to deny for others.
The Next Wave: Global Terrorist Parades
If Geneva becomes the playground for terrorists, the UNHRC in 2026 could see the following:
- Hamas: Marching under the banner of “resistance,” glorifying suicide bombers, and demanding weapons in the name of liberation.
- ISIS: The infamous black flag flying outside the UN, claiming “caliphate rights” and demanding recognition of its fallen fighters.
- Al-Qaeda: Portraits of Osama bin Laden and his lieutenants raised under slogans of martyrdom.
- Boko Haram: Campaigning to keep arms, waving images of kidnapped schoolgirls as trophies rather than crimes.
- LTTE: Emboldened further, celebrating its assassinations and bombings while posing as victims.
This is not imagination. It is the logical consequence of precedent. If one terrorist organisation is permitted to flaunt its symbols and dead leaders outside the UN, every other banned group will demand equal treatment and UN/UNHRC or Swiss authorities cannot deny this.
Geneva’s Accountability
Switzerland cannot escape responsibility. As host state to the UN, it has a binding obligation under international law to ensure its soil is not used to glorify terrorism. Neutrality does not mean indifference. Silence places terrorists on par with legitimate governments and their National Armies. This is not neutrality – this is complicity with terrorists These actions are nothing but complicity with terrorist agenda and is another form of one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
Allowing LTTE symbols today means opening the door to Hamas flags tomorrow, and ISIS chants the day after. The UN cannot afford this hypocrisy — condemning terrorism in New York while hosting it in Geneva.
The Forgotten Victims
Every flag raised in Geneva dishonours the victims of terrorism worldwide:
- The Sri Lankan civilians massacred by LTTE suicide bombers.
- Israelis and Palestinians murdered by Hamas
- Iraqis and Syrians executed by ISIS.
- Americans and others killed on 9/11 by Al-Qaeda.
- Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
The UN itself has banned 89 entities as terrorist. The U.S. maintains a list of 80, the UK 84, the EU 22, and India over 100. What if all these groups arrive with their flags to the UNHRC in 2026?
What kind of a UNHRC session would this become when terrorists are martyred in Geneva?
The Final Warning
If this trend is unchecked, the UNHRC sessions in 2026 will be remembered not for defending human rights but for surrendering them — to terrorists waving flags, glorifying death, and demanding arms.
The credibility of both the United Nations and Switzerland hangs in the balance. They must act now. Tomorrow will be too late.
The world’s people must ask: can we continue to trust an organization that allows its own premises to be hijacked by terrorists? When even UNHRC Heads lay flowers at venues decorated with terrorist flags & retire with handsome packages doing sweet nothing for world peace — has the UN not itself become part of the problem?
Does the UN or the UNHRC have any credibility?
Why should member nations finance an entity that supports terrorists?
